Customizable items
Runic Gems
The main source of magic energy for Rune Carvers is a gem that is set within their chests. This gem is called the Runic Gem and there are hundreds of gem types, each one with its own powers and attributes.
As Rune Carvers become more powerful, they also learn how to craft new gems that they can embed in their chests – this will grant them new powers and abilities. It is possible to choose which gem a Rune Carver is wearing during each battle, which means you can customize their different abilities. A wise initial choice may well help you when facing a powerful adversary.

Runic Fists
Once the initiate has become a Rune Carver, he is equipped with his first pair of Runic Fists, which allow him to cast powerful spells and earn buffs and power-ups.
Each pair of gloves grants several special attacks or abilities to the Rune Carver. It is important to choose the right fists for each battle, depending on the class of Archmage you are facing.

Early concepts
With all these ideas in our minds, our CG team started to think about how a Rune Carver might look. After some preliminary concepts, we arrived at this:
After getting a good idea about what he was going to look like, it was time to focus on one of the most important features: the Runic Fists. Here are some preliminary concepts:
And here is how the Rune Carver looked when wearing some of these fists:
It was definitely a pretty cool concept, but weren't sure about it: it just wasn't catchy enough. After some brainstorming, we decided upon the final idea: to have both gloves combine into a single piece.
The Rune Carver could put them together to release their energy and cast powerful spells. Together, both gloves would form the runic circle that can be found on the Rune Carver class icon.
This idea also led to several concepts that illustrated how it would actually work:

And this is pretty much all the preliminary concept drawing we did!
With all this stuff whizzing around our minds, our CG team started to work on the 3D artwork. By looking at all of the images we have presented here, we really hope you'll be excited about the first Archmagia class: the Rune Carver. In a few days, we are going to show you the complete 3D modeling process (high-pol, low-pol, texturing, etc.). If you want to stay up-to-date, remember to join us and stay tuned!
